It was early one February morning when I drove into Mojave, California. It snowed overnight in the Tehachapi mountains north of the city. As I pulled off the road to get an image of the joshua trees, the storm clouds parted for just a few minutes, but long enough to light up the distant snow covered mountains and the trees nearest the road. Fortunately in my haste to get the mountain and tree image, I scared the birds sitting the tree!
